I'm a product of the BISD too...
I grew up in Brownsville, Texas. I went to school here too. I graduated from Pace High school. My favorite classes were my sports, Art, History and English classes. I learned to love writing and history because of a great teacher I had. I have always been a reader. I love sci-fi, mystery, and historical fiction stories. I went to Texas Southmost College where I earned my associates of arts. I then graduated from The University of Texas at Brownsville with a bachelor's degree in English and History minor. I went on to work for the Brownsville ISD as a paraprofessional and then as a teacher. I have been teaching ever since. I also went back to school and received a master's degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University in Arizona. During my time with the BISD, I enjoyed coaching at all secondary levels and I did so for twenty five years. I loved the competition and training that my young athletes found success in. We won many games together. However, my personal measure of success in coaching came from the way sports helped to transform many of my thousands of athletes into successful young adults. Many with success stories of their own. I am pleased that I encounter them in town all the time.
I love hunting and fishing. I am a Dallas Cowboy fan. I follow the Spurs and Astros. I enjoy the outdoors and being in the woods. I love riding my motorcycle, where I serve to support the law enforcement, first responders and military veterans in our community. I serve my God and Lord Jesus Christ. I work hard to raise my own children right by supporting and loving them. I teach my students and care for them as I do my own children. I consider myself a fair teacher. However, I have been doing this long enough to know that my kids need to learn the lessons of responsibility and accountability. I love my job. I work hard to bring my academic success and knowledge into the lives of all the students entrusted to me.
